The Tour International du Poitou-Charentes is a road cycle race held annually in the region of Poitou-Charentes. It was first held in 1987 and since 2005 it has been organised as a 2.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour.
It is a major sporting event in the region and in common with its status as a highly regarded race, it usually boasts major names in the cycling world. This four-day race is an ideal opportunity for cycling fans to experience road racing at its very best. The Tour takes place throughout the four beautIful départements of Poitou-Charentes and it gives our guests a unique opportunity to discover the wonderful heritage of the region with each stage of the cycling tour.
The tour often passes through Montmorillon, which is very close to Longère Louise, and occasionally takes in Availles-Limouzine, where guests at La Poste des Gardes have ringside seats for the race from the first floor river terrace right by the bridge over the River Vienne.
